Dallas Comic Con

I'll be in Irving this weekend, May 21-22, at the new Convention Center for Dallas Comic Con. I'll be exhibiting in Artist Alley with the rest of the Space-Gun Studios members. I'll have $10 prints, original art for sale and will be offering sketches for $20 and open commission slots.  If you'd like to pre-order a commission you can email me at soulcoredotnet (at) gmail dot com.  I'll be taking credit cards for the first time as well.

So come on out, say hello, and meet Leonard Nimoy, Stan Lee and a whole bunch of other awesome artists, writers and lovers of funnybooks.

I've been pretty busy lately with design work, illustrations and the beginnings of production work on my own creator-owned comic project. Unfortunately I won't get to post most of that work  until their respective sites have been approved and launched. In the meantime here's a recent commission I can show, one of the manthings keeping me busy these days.

Catwoman Commission. Or, Don't be a flake to folks who are social media savvy.

Worked up a Catwoman commission tonight after having a twitter convo regarding artists flaking out on commissions after taking their clients money. And make no mistake, patrons of your art are you clients.

Working as a freelancer in the advertising and web design world has taught me that timing is as important as quality. You're held to your deadlines and if you miss them you don't get future work, so I've had a long-held tradition of making sure I can meet the deadlines I commit to.

Now that doesn't mean you should turn in shoddy work just so it's on time, and there's an easy way around that entire scenario: Don't bite off more than you can chew. And if you're an artist taking commissions and you have a backlog, man up and let your clients know what to expect, then they won't badmouth you on twitter.

Having said all that I put my money were my mouth is and did this tonight for one ComixBookGurl. I hope she digs.

And here are the inks.

And now if you'll excuse me, I have another deadline to meet.

Open for Commissions.

With the new portfolio site wrapped up and a couple of freelance gigs in the can I figure it's only fair to start taking on some extra commissions and practice my chops before starting my next comic project. So, here we go, I'm open for commissions!
